*Henley Qualifiers Report*
We had two entries this year; Maddy & Lara in the Stonor 2x, and Ava, Lulu, Evie & Martha in the Diamond Jubilee 4x.
Unfortunately Maddy became ill on Thursday and had to pull out. After working to find a replacement, Ella Weeks from NRC stepped in and was an approved sub by the Stewards.
The crews were at either end of the qualification races yesterday, the 2x boated early rowing for the first time together. The 4x were the last race of the day at 8pm.
Following a time trial format over a slightly shorter Henley course, the race was held in very high temperatures and a gusting headwind. The Nottingham double had a good solid first row and qualified as one of the four fastest crews from 10 racing.
The J16 quad racing up in the Junior event, had a long wait for their race, facing 48 crews with only 12 to qualify. In increasingly difficult conditions the crew battled hard and aggressively but failed to qualify, coming in 16’’ behind the fastest non-qualifier in a very strong field.
The crew now races on Sunday at the J16 GB France trials in Nottingham, having gained valuable experience on the Henley course.
